Welcome to Fourth Grade!!
I am so happy to be teaching and getting to know your child this year! My contact information is mcrews@cleveland.k12.ms.us. On this website, I will include our math daily lesson, as well as science and social studies weekly lessons. I check my email at least twice a day between 7:30 and 3:30, but any emails after 3:30 will be answered the following morning. I look forward to inspiring and growing your child in math, social studies, and science throughout this year!!
We will take a mad minute test weekly, usually on Tuesdays. This is a G1 weekly grade.
Students are given time during the week to complete IReady lessons/assignments. They are given grades based on completing the amount of time and lessons They are required to have 45 minutes per week with 2 lessons passed.
Signed papers will be sent home every Tuesday to be signed and need to be sent back on Wednesday.
PE is on Thursdays! Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on that day!
First nine weeks' mad minute will be multiplying one digit by one digit. Example: 5x8.
Mad minutes for second nine weeks will be addition with regrouping using 4,5,and 6 digits. Example: 678,345 + 342, 876
Mad minutes for third nine weeks is subtraction with 4,5,and 6 digits. Example: 45,932- 36,721
Fourth nine weeks' mad minutes will be two digits x one digit- example: 56x9

I apologize for the confusion with science and social studies this past week. Fractions are a very important math skill and has taken more time than I anticipated. We are back on track!

Information for each student's disease project was handed out in science lab. This is due Nov. 2. This is a major and minor grade.

We will begin our study of the human body. We will study the skeletal system first. Each system will last two weeks. Students will be given a human body divided in half. They are expected to learn half of the skeletal system for a major test Friday, Oct. 28 and the second half Friday, Nov. 4. A word bank will be provided. Minor grades will be taken in class.
October 17-21
