Read-a-Thon
Bell Academy has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year! Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more. Our Read-a-thon starts Monday March 27, 2023. About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress. We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/uloJQH/1 and following the simple instructions. We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope EVERYONE participates. Local businesses also love to support school programs. If you know of a business or organization interested in supporting Bell Academy, please share the sponsor kit located on the right under school announcements. It explains how they can advertise on the Read-a-Thon website throughout the fundraiser.

Mrs. Russell’s Math Mission Challenge
Principal Russell is partnering with MDE's Math Mission Challenge for Grades 3-6 and having a challenge of her own at Bell Academy. Please encourage your scholar to participate. Paper's math missions can be done at home, in a center, in tutorial…anywhere. Principal Russell will have a leaderboard in the main hallway. Each week the top 20 students with the most missions completed will be entered into a drawing for a variety of gift cards. Three names will be drawn each week for the month of March. At the end of the month, the top 20 students will have lunch with the Principal in the outdoor picnic area. The student with the most missions completed will receive a trophy and a prize! Flyers were sent home! The challenge starts March 1st! More information can be found to the right under School Announcements.

Teacher, Staff Member & Parent of the Year
Congratulations to Bell Academy's 2022 Teacher of the Year, Staff Member of the Year, and Parent of the Year. Individuals were nominated and voted on by faculty and staff of the school. Thank you all for your continued support, contribution, and love for Bell Academy. Mrs. Clare Moore was chosen as Parent of the Year. Clare was instrumental in planting the seeds to help our Bell Sprouts garden grow into the amazing learning opportunity for our staff and students. She can often be found volunteering in the garden, promoting Bell within the community, and working with students at the Cleveland Farmers’ Market. Ms. Carolyn Washington was chosen as Staff Member of the Year. Ms. Washington wears many hats at Bell including serving as the computer lab instructor, fixed asset manager, technology support, and assisting in the office . Ms. Washington provides support to many and does so with a giving heart. Mrs. Pam Field was chosen as Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Field is not only dedicated to her pre-kindergarten students, but to Bell Academy as a whole. Each day she greets each faculty member, student, and parent with a smile and kind spirit. She is always willing to jump in and lend a helping hand. She works collaboratively with Mrs. Tammy to plan engaging, age appropriate, meaningful activities for her students to help them excel in the classroom.

Read for the Record
Bell Academy participated in Jumpstart's Read for the Record on October 27, 2022. Families, friends, and volunteers from the surrounding community read aloud "Nigel and the Moon" by A. Eady and donated books to the classrooms. After participating in Read for the Record for many years now, this may be the largest group of volunteers to date (some not pictured). This shared reading experience celebrates children’s language and social-emotional development while instilling the love for reading. Thank you to the CSD community for helping us celebrate in this annual event!
