Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Cathy Coleman (Sparks)

"You won’t be successful unless you first love your work.”

My name is Cathy Coleman (Sparks).  I was born and raised in Cleveland, MS. I graduated from Cleveland High School, and went on to earn a Bachelors, Masters, and Specialists degree in education from Delta State University.

I have worked for Hayes Cooper for 14 years, and have twenty-eight years of experience working in early childhood and elementary students. I was the Cleveland School District’s 2017 Teacher of the Year,  2nd Congressional District Finalist 2017 Teacher of the Year, and Delta Area Association for Improvement of Schools (DAAIS) 2017 Teacher of the Year. I am the Director for Hayes Cooper Extended Day Program and an Adjunct Instructor for Delta State University‘s education department.  I love working at Hayes Cooper Center because of the partnership and collaboration that I have with my coworkers, parents, and students.

When I am not hard at work at Hayes Cooper Center, I enjoy spending time with my family and children, Wayland (Amanda), Samuel, and Cathelen.  Samuel and Cathelen attended Hayes Cooper Center. I love sports (especially football), singing, dancing, and having fun.
