Mrs. Krista Davis
Krista Davis moved to Cleveland July of 2008 from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She is a Registered Dietitian and earned a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences (Dietetics/Nutrition concentration) from Delta State University. Some of her past positions included Blue Cross Blue Shield Healthy Campus/Community Initiative Coordinator at Delta State University, Child Nutrition/Food Services Director, and Adjunct Nutrition/Dietetics Instructor. When her daughter was about to turn one year old, she decided to be a stay at home mom. Mrs. Davis' daughter is now in PreK at Bell Academy, and she feels very fortunate to have found a service position with FoodCorps here at Bell Academy.
FoodCorps’ mission: Together with communities, FoodCorps serves to connect kids to healthy food in school.
FoodCorps’ vision: We are creating a future in which all our nation’s children––regardless of race, place, or class––know what healthy food is, care where it comes from, and eat it every day.
Mrs. Davis' service here at Bell Academy includes, but is not limited to:
- Conducts taste tests (mostly fruits and vegetables grown from our garden or grown locally)
- Incorporates garden, food, and nutrition lessons into the curriculum (teaching and co-teaching hands-on lessons in the garden and in the classroom)
- Healthy food modeling (eating healthy meals with the students during lunch on a daily basis)
- Helps to maintain and develop the school gardens
