My name is Mary Catherine McGee and I am the counselor at D.M. Smith Elementary School.
The previous school year was filled with growth, learning, and countless moments of inspiration. Witnessing the resilience and determination of our students was truly remarkable, and I am immensely proud of their accomplishments. The bond we formed as a school community, working hand in hand, has created an environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I am filled with anticipation and excitement. The start of a new academic year brings with it fresh opportunities for growth, new friendships to be forged, and valuable lessons to be learned. Together, we will navigate the challenges that may arise, celebrate our successes, and foster a supportive and nurturing environment for all.
My role as the elementary school counselor is to provide guidance and support to our students, parents, and teachers. Whether it is helping students develop their social-emotional skills, addressing any concerns they may have, or collaborating with teachers to create a positive learning atmosphere, I am here to serve as a resource and a trusted ally.
I encourage open communication between parents, guardians, and myself, as we share the common goal of ensuring the well-being and success of our students. Together, we can empower our young learners to become confident, compassionate, and resilient individuals who are prepared to face the challenges of the future.
Here's to the 2023-2024 school year!
