I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from Delta State University in Family and Consumer Science, with an emphasis in Child Development and a minor in Special Education. I have over 24 years of early childhood teaching experience. I taught Pre K and Kindergarten for 14 years at Presbyterian Day School in Cleveland and was the coordinator of the after school program.
I am married to my husband, Mitchell, with five wonderful sons. Pre K is my heart and soul! I am very happy to be a part of the Bell Academy family.

Hello Parents!
My name is Emily Whalen, and I'm the new PreK teacher at Bell Academy. I am so excited for this school year and all the fun that's in store for our little PreK class!
I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood from Mississippi State University. Since graduating from MSU in 2015, I have taught 3rd and 4th grade ELA at Parks Elementary School. I'm so excited to be in an early childhood classroom environment! Teaching PreK has always been a dream of mine. There is nothing like seeing the growth of a student and watching them blossom into eager learners, especially at such a young age where they are just beginning school.
I'm originally from Oxford, Mississippi, but have been in Cleveland for the past four years. I met my husband, Andrew, in college. We married right out of school and started our life together in Cleveland. Fast forward to four years later and we have a beautiful baby girl, Molly Cate, who will be a year old in December. We also have a Goldendoodle named Bella.
I look forward to all that's to come this school year at Bell Academy!

I received both my Master's and my Bachelor's degrees from Delta State University. I taught kindergarten in Desoto County Schools for five years. I got married and moved back to Cleveland in 2000. I taught Elementary Education Classes in the Curriculum and Instruction Department at Delta State. I also supervised student teachers. When my third child was born in 2008, I was a stay at home mom until my last child was old enough to be in school full time. I felt like my heart was back in the classroom teaching small children, and I started teaching 4K at Bell in 2014. I love my job. Every day is an adventure. Four year olds are so loving; my job is a joy!
