WOW! This is some crazy weather we're having! Keep warm and stay safe.
I know many of you have completed the packet we sent home so here are some new instructions for at home learning. Also, if you communicate with anyone in the other first grade, Ms Burton's class, Mrs. Giachelli is asking them to complete this assignment as well.
Prepare a report or poster (use any materials you ALREADY have at home) on any animal you choose. This is in relation to our story Animal Groups. Research your animal. Make sure you write about the animal group it belongs to, its habitat, and at least 4 other interesting facts you learn. You may draw a picture or print a picture. Please bring these to school when we are back to share with the class! I can't wait to see what these creative children deliver!
Other assignments:
- AR- Make sure you read the story more than once before test. 85% comprehension still applies to everyone.
- Study math facts, especially subtraction. We'll have a 4 min. Mad Minute with next tests.
- iReady Reading AND Math. We need 100's! (or higher than 85:) )

First Grade Announcements
Mrs. Tubbs & Ms Phillips
We’ve had a great start into our 2020-21 school year! We are busy learning about class and school regulations, routines, and schedules. The children are happy to see friends and be back at school.
Beginning of year (BOY) testing is being done this week and next. We’re testing each day but trying not to overwhelm the children. Everything is going well.
Our first Reading story, lessons, and grades will begin the week of September 21-25. Your child may have work to be practiced and/or completed at home in his/her folder. Please keep this at home. It should not be returned to school unless noted on the paper. An announcement page with all needed information will be added online. A hard copy sent home at the beginning of each week.
May 13, 2020
Hello, hope everyone is well and still working on assignments! This is an update for the rest of the school year. This is going to be your last week for lessons. The Kite is your last set of work. A Boat Disappears is on gooleclassroom but no hard copies will be taken to Sears and it does not have to be completed. Instead, we are asking that EVERY student complete the iReady Reading AND Math screeners. Just login to iReady and they're both assigned to you. Directions are on HCC facebook page if you have problems. When you have completed both assessments, you're done with the year! YAH!!
Finally, if I haven't already,I will contact you soon. Teachers are contacting parents by School Status message or call concerning end-of-year reports.
Take care, be well, and do your best on iReady! You won't know everything but that's okay! Do your own work and you'll do fine.
Missing you and congratulations,
Mrs. Tubbs
First Grade Announcements April 13-24, 2020
The newest paper copies are at Sears. Lessons are on googleclassroom for the next two weeks. AR is working at home. Remember, you must keep an 85% comprehension rate!
