Degrees and Certifications:
I grew up in Madison, Ms, and moved to Cleveland, Ms. to go to college. I graduated from Delta State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary English Education. I began my teaching career in August of 2012, at Cleveland High School. I currently teach 10th grade English II at Cleveland Central High School.
In my class, students learn valuable life skills, as well as in depth academic skills with reading, writing, language, and speaking/listening. I encourage positivity, tolerance, perseverance, etc. in my classroom. My class tends to be very unconventional; students will be working extremely hard all year, but they will also have countless opportunities to participate in so many different and fun activities. I absolutely adore my kids, and I will always help my students with whatever I can, whenever I can. I have had consistently high state test scores every year, and I truly enjoy teaching a state tested class.
Another important aspect to my class that all parents need to know is that your child will ALWAYS have unlimited extra credit on academic websites we use in class (Reading Plus, USATestPrep, etc.). No grades in my class are permanent, so students always have an opportunity to work for extra credit points on any assignment they wish.
Finally, I am not afraid to be silly if it means that my students will learn more easily, so if you have a child in my class, you will hear many, many stories about my class and all of the really fun activities we do! I think my profile picture here explains and shows exactly what I am talking about. I always encourage my students to never be afraid to be silly! We are all big kids on the inside anyway! :)
