Mrs. Miranda Hawkins

My name is Miranda Hawkins and I joined the awesome Bell Academy team in January 2022 as the Science Lab facilitator! I have been teaching for 15 years and have loved teaching science for most of those years. I strive each year to get children excited about science and I do this with hands-on active engagement! This year I am going to complete an Interactive Science Notebook with each grade level. Students will be in charge of their learning more than they'll realize. I believe teachers and students can co-teach learning journeys to develop the skills and knowledge they need to become the critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, and independent learners and leaders of the future.

Students will learn the steps of the Scientific Method and conduct experiments in the lab, providing them with all the knowledge needed to conduct an experiment at home independently for the Science Fair. They will also take part in the harvesting of our garden, which most students participated in the planting and caring for in the spring. I can't wait for them to see how their hard work paid off, because our garden is amazingly beautiful and fruitful! I look forward to working with all Jaguars in this exciting new school year!
