ALOHA!!!!!
I am Mrs. ShaReda Dawn Nance-Coleman or Mrs. C. (your preference), 6th grade EKA facilitator for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year at D.M. Smith Elementary School where we WIN, WIN, WIN.....NO MATTER WHAT!!! It's a brand new day at our school!! Let the journey begin!!
I am delighted and honored to work with each student and parent. I am elated to be a part of the team that will get students ready for whatver adventures await them! What we do today matters and will shape the choices of tomorrow. Choose wisely...
This course brings a great challenge and will be filled with rigor, enthusiasm, and of course educational fun! I love to have fun! Learning is meant to be fun, interactive, purposeful, and engaging. Let me be the first to tell you that I do possess many "old school" traditional ways of teaching; (my foundation-it is a part of who I am) but in no way do I conform to just that. I am constantly in search of ways to incorporate data driven resources to stay abreast in the world of education. I also approach teaching with everyday life experiences.
I am happily married to the love of my life, Edward. Edward and I have 2 children: Edward Jr., an 11th grade honor student at Cleveland Central High School and Elin E'Dawn, a 4th grade honor student at Bell Academy. She is said to be "beyond her years!"
I am a teacher because I enjoy hard work and helping others work to their full potential. I want my students to expreience meaningful, real-life, and innovative learning that applies to their everyday lives. "We can DO ALL things through CHRIST," is what I profess for self and my students.
I am a 1991 graduate of Gentry High School in Indianola, MS. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Journalism from Delta State University. While there, I served as a staff writer for The Delta Statement, the campus newspaper. I also interned as a reporter with The Delta News which formerly was WXVT-Channel 15 in Greenville, Mississippi. I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. In 2007, I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in English from Mississippi Valley State University. I am currently seeking National Board Certification; having successfully passed Component 1: Content Knowledge.
This is my 20th year in Education! This is my 8th year of employment with the Cleveland School District. Previously I taught 8 years at West Bolivar Middle School in Rosedale, MS as an ELA teacher. I also taught 4 years at I.T. Montgomery Elementary School in Mound Bayou.
I love taking care of my family, attending church, reading, and watching a good bout of wrestling! My only dream is to one day, in the near future attend WrestleMania.
