Letter From Dr. Authur Johnson, Principal

Dear Cleveland Central Middle School Community,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the newly appointed Principal and Assistant Principal of Cleveland Central Middle School. Mrs. Sparks and I spent the last week of the 1st semester visiting classrooms, greeting teachers, staff, children, and observing school routines. We wanted to be familiar with all the aspects of the school so our first week back would be a smooth transition for us.

Assistant Principal Sparks and I are passionate about education. During my career in education, I have served as a teacher, football coach, elementary, middle, high school, and alternative school principal, and provided leadership as a district administrator in several additional roles over the years. Cathy Coleman Sparks has served as a classroom teacher, the Extended Day Coordinator, a member of her previous school's leadership team, and various committees within the district, community, and state.

The CCMS administrative team will continue the legacy of success established by the Cleveland School District by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. Together we will focus on the use of data to inform instruction, Responsive Classrooms to emphasize academic, social, and emotional growth, and provide exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities that focus on assuring the rigor of instruction in meeting the Common Core Learning Standards. Remedial support for students will also be provided; therefore, equity in all educational endeavors will be maintained.

During the course of the semester, it is my hope that we will work together to provide our students with the best opportunities in preparing them for high school and other challenges in their path. As an administrative team, our door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment to discuss your concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this year the best it can be!

Sincerely,

Dr. Arthur F. Johnson

Principal
